Shoulders - Mobile, Strong and Stable

The shoulder is a very mobile area of the body – one of the most mobile joints we have. It can move in multiple directions including up, down, back, forward and various forms of rotation.
Take a moment or two to move your arm and shoulder around and explore just what type of range of motion you have in yours. Chances are, it’s not as much as you may want. Why is this so? Because we generally don’t access all of the ranges our shoulders can make. When the body doesn’t use what it is capable of, it loses the ability to do so.
Not only is the shoulder very mobile, it is also capable of being very strong - think hanging from a bar/branch or pushing and pulling heavy objects. As well we need the shoulders to be stable in order to function. Ideally, shoulders are mobile, strong and stable and this is what we should work on.
